HOW TO MAKE A WOVEN HEADBAND
Supplies needed
scissors
1/2" plastic headband (any size but tutorial is in 1/2")
4 pieces of ribbon at least 25" I like to cut mine a little longer 27" to be on the safe side
Fillet tape (I love this stuff but you can use hot glue)
lighter to fray check the ribbon ends
clips or clothespins to hold the ends over night
Cut 2 pieces of fillet tape about 1/2" apply to the back and front of one side of the plastic headband.
Cut 2 pieces of fillet tape 1/4" apply to 2 pieces of the ribbon. The outside triangles of this design will be the zebra stripe and the inside is going to be the kittys. If you want the kitty design facing the same direction throughout the headband the ribbons need to be aligned the same way as shown in the 2nd pic. Some ribbon designs it is fun to have one going in one direction and the other in the opposite direction. Of course, do what you like best it's your headband.
STEP 1: Front piece is going to go up and to the right. The center design will be the upper piece.
STEP 2: Back piece the back of the design is facing you and the center of your design which is the kitty ribbon is in the upward direction and the zebra is going down.
STEP 3: Fold right hand kitty design down the back of the headband and match up with the left hand zebra design.
STEP 4: Fold the left top kitty down over the front of the headband so now it is on the right.
STEP 5: Fold the right kitty around the back but in front of the right zebra.
STEP 6: Fold the right zebra over to meet up with the kitty design you just folded.
STEP 7: Fold the top kitty over the bottom zebra so it is on the right side.
STEP 8: Fold the top zebra toward the back in between the lower kitty and zebra.
Repeat steps 5 - 8 until you get to the end.
Apply 1/2" fillet tape to right kitty and cut ribbon off up to the tape. Pull tight and fold down.
I put 2 pieces of fillet tape on this piece because I like to take the one off closest to the headband and get it in right place and pulled tightly. Cut ribbon at the tape then fold over the second part.
Apply 1" of fillet tape to the kitty piece cut ribbon at tape then pull tight and position correctly.
Apply 1/2" fillet tape cut ribbon at the tape and pull tightly.
Secure both ends with a clip or clothespin overnight or a couple of hours.
